just a take on the capitoline wolf.

I painted this traditionally in watercolor and gouache, but had a meltdown and now it is a giant gouache-y blob. I had a picture on my phone however, so tried to salvage it.

I love this!!! I know the original well. It originally didn't have the weird looking babies under it. They were added hundreds of years later to change the meaning of the piece, and adapt it to a different religious culture- instead of destroying it like many other works of art. It sticks out in my mind because those babies (not yours...) are so weird looking, and their presence is so unnatural.
